How much do I bind myself to the Master if I get initiated?
Why do we need a Master, as Jesus Christ came to bear the sins of the world?
If I already feel the burning desire to become complete within me and I have heard the call of God then is the help of the Master still necessary?
How can a person know the true quality of a Master and how can he make the right choice between the great number of Masters in our days?
We have been asked why isn’t it sufficient if one has been saved by one of the past Masters? Isn’t this enough?
Question (Q): How much do I bind myself to the Master if I get initiated?

Sant Thakar Singh (STS): This I also may try to clear, that Master has not come to bind you, but he has come to liberate you from the bondages of the jealous God who has bound us in: "As you sow so shall you reap!" "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth." But now you are to be connected with the merciful, forgiveful and loving God, where you will be free and need not to pay for any of your actions. Everything will be forgiven. And you are not bound with the Master. After initiation, as He has connected you over here (Master points to the third eye center between the eyes) he will tell you how to develop this connection with God and you go on independently anywhere. In your home, you may go on working in your jobs, in your family, you may keep on with all your social conduct with everybody, but still my services will be available. I am only to serve you.

Q: Why do we need a Master, as Jesus Christ came to bear the sins of the world?

STS: You see, it is right; he also carried the karma of the people. How can a Master carry the karma? He carries the karma on the physical body for the person who had been given relief from suffering. He himself had to suffer on his body at the time of the crucifixion. Other Masters are similar. There was a Master in India who had to suffer sitting on a hot pan for 7 days and 7 nights. It was a very great torture. He had also taken on the sins of so many people. But it is only the body of the Master which can take on the sins. Therefore, the body of the Master is needed always. Whatever difficulties and problems exist in the destiny of a disciple which are unbearable for him, when he cries for the help of the Master, the Master says: "Alright, give it to me." So he bears the karma of that person. But how can he bear it when he has no body? The body is there for bearing the karmas. We need a Master who may bear our karmas and this is only possible when he is in the body.

Q: If I already feel the burning desire to become complete within me and I have heard the call of God then is the help of the Master still necessary?

STS: When our cry is heard by the mother or father, then they run to us. If they cannot come to us, then they call us through some messenger, through some servant. God cannot come down to us but He has sent His messenger so that when our cry reaches Him and we really have a yearning for Him and He wants us really, then He connects us with the Godman. But this cannot be ignored. Lord Christ when he himself asked John the Baptist for this initiation, for this baptism, then John the Baptist asked the Lord, "Why are you getting baptized from me, when you have direct blessings from God?" Then it is given in the gospel of St. John: "Let the law be done." And it is clear that after having been baptized by John the Baptist, the spirit of God came down and took its place in the holy body of the Lord - not before baptism. So if this process was necessary as a law for Lord Christ, then how can we say that we can do without it? It is still more necessary for us.

Q: How can a person know the true quality of a Master and how can he make the right choice between the great number of Masters in our days?

STS: You are lucky that there is a great number of Masters. You may try them and anyone who connects you with the inner light and sound of God is to be accepted as the Master from God. The others may also help you to some extent, as there are so many grades of Masters who also help the souls to the levels which they have attained themselves. But for the further journey the Master of this third-eye-center is required, who may connect you directly with these only links from God; and then you are finally connected with God and no further Master is required. This is the worldly way of judging or knowing something but really you are guided by Godpower. When you have real yearning for God, then God will take you to the real Master. You are not to worry for that, it is the arrangement of God. You have only to create a yearning for God and the availability of Master is the duty of God for you. I have found that there are so many people who have come to me who had been initiated by other Masters and after having gone through that process, then they were connected with the higher one.

Q: We have been asked why isn’t it sufficient if one has been saved by one of the past Masters? Isn’t this enough?

STS: This is a law, that any Master, who leaves the physical body, leaves the stage of this earth plane. He is no more active over here. And that Lord Christ has also told like that in John, I think it is chapter 9:5, he says that, "I am the light and life of the world as long as I am in the world." And that light and that life which is of God, that only transforms from one body to the other. That when one body is finished, it takes seat in another body. So Master is not really the body, but Master is that light and sound. And it has to take place in some human body. So human body is very much needed and it is acting and past Master is to take rest and hands over all his work to the living Master - what is remaining behind.
